Practices

Samantha is dual-qualified as an Australian and English solicitor. She has ten years’ experience in international arbitration and specialises in large-scale construction disputes.

Samantha has practiced in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Australia, including time inhouse with a global food and beverage corporation.

Experience

Samantha has acted for construction clients ranging from contractors to subcontractors, developers and owners. She specialises in major construction disputes, drawing on her experience in international arbitration, mediation, advisory and inhouse commercial law to reliably deliver for those she represents.

Samantha’s work in international arbitration has seen her act for clients in disputes subject to the following arbitration rules:

  • The International Chamber of Commerce
  • The London Court of International Arbitration
  • The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes
  • The Dubai International Financial Centre-The London Court of International Arbitration

Samantha has represented clients on an extensive list of matters involving:

Scope of work variations, delays and disruption, extensions of time, payment claims, termination and enforcement of arbitral awards. She is well regarded for her ability to mitigate the needs of stakeholders across geographic and cultural borders,  ensuring the best outcomes for her clients.

Mediation

Samantha represented a global engineering firm in a multi-party mediation.

Advisory

Samantha has acted as an advisor to a government entity in the UAE, advising on the potential for a new arbitration following a successful ad-hoc arbitration against a main contractor for a process plant development.

She provided strategic advice to a Dubai based contractor regarding a claim for an extension of time and variations following a constuction project at Dubai International Aiport.

Samantha also assisted in the provision of strategic advice for addressing defects in a newly constructed gas pipeline. Her client was a major engineering, procurement and construction contractor in dispute with one of their subcontractors.

Commercial In-house

During her time in a global food and beverage corporation, Samantha drafted and reviewed procurement, manufacturing, distribution, marketing and service agreements. She provided legal support to the Human Resources team in Singapore and provided inhouse legal assistance to the Asia Pacific legal and business teams. This included advising on product development, manufacturing, production, distribution and the marketing of consumable goods in the region.
