Community
Our purpose is to enable our clients, our people and our communities to thrive.
Success in fulfilling our purpose includes doing our part to give back to the community.
Our values underlie everything we do as a firm. Our initiatives include:
- Diversity and Inclusion: We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects our people, our clients and our community.
- The Hall & Wilcox Community Fund: A philanthropic program created to support and enable the community to thrive by providing substantial charitable grants to three charity partners in the areas of education, employment and housing.
- Pro Bono practice: This practice embraces our ethical responsibility as a firm to help those in need with pro bono legal assistance.
- Environment & Sustainability: We have a responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint. We are working towards achieving our Climate Active carbon neutral certification by 2025.
- Reconciliation Action Plan: We believe in doing our part to improve equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and that reconciliation is integral to allowing the whole Australian community to thrive. Our Innovate RAP sets out how we will work towards our vision for reconciliation.
- Art Exhibition and Acquisition Program: We support emerging Australian artists through our annual Art Exhibition and Acquisition Program and the Hall & Wilcox Art Prize.
- Volunteering: Community Committees in each of our offices provide local volunteering opportunities for our people. Our graduate lawyers also have the opportunity to participate in the Graduate Volunteer Day.
- ESG: Our environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework helps us to achieve our goals for both people and the planet, ensuring it is embedded in everything we do. We have voluntarily joined the UN Global Compact and are committed to implementing the 10 UN Global Compact principles, which include a focus on the environment, human rights, labour, governance and anti-corruption.
