Hall & Wilcox launches innovative tenancy dispute solution to support housing providers

News14 Oct 2025

Leading law firm Hall & Wilcox has launched a new, first-of-its-kind tenancy disputes solution to support housing providers and build-to-rent operators in navigating the increasing volume and complexity of tenancy-related issues in Australia.

With more Australians than ever living in social, affordable and build-to-rent housing, the legal and operational pressures on providers are increasing. Ensuring efficient and compliant management of tenancies is critical for organisations already managing tenancies at scale, as well as those looking to enter or expand within the sector. Many housing projects operate under tight financial models, where even minor tenant issues can have significant reputational and economic consequences.

The tenancy disputes solution we are launching today provides the first national fixed cost offering into the market which is designed to educate, empower and upskill organisations to make confident, informed decisions both before issues escalate and after.

The project was led in collaboration by Partners Shaun Whittaker, Albert Ponte and David Dickens, with the Client Solutions team playing a key role in developing the tool.

Commenting on the project, Shaun said, ‘The solutions we are offering through this tool are about providing housing providers and operators with the insight and support to manage disputes effectively and get it right early – reducing long-term impacts on their people, operations, project stakeholders and the tenant community. Our solutions will reduce the burden on in-house legal teams and executives when disputes arise by offering a consistent, structured approach which can be applied across all jurisdictions.’

Uniquely built for the realities of large-scale housing portfolios, the solution reflects Hall & Wilcox’s Smarter Law approach, using our industry expertise to create product offerings that the sector is asking for and which will have high impact on their operations.

This new solution reinforces Hall & Wilcox’s purpose: to enable our clients, our people and communities to thrive.
