
Tatjana is an experienced general insurance litigator with expertise in defending personal injury claims and litigation across various industries. Tatjana’s practice predominately involves advising and representing public sector clients in personal injury/public liability claims and related litigation.
In addition to litigated claims work, Tatjana regularly represents clients in Coronial investigations and inquests, judicial review matters and quasi criminal matters including high-risk terrorism offence matters pursuant to the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) and post-sentence supervision order matters pursuant to the Serious Offenders Act 2018 (Vic).
Tatjana holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences. She has litigated matters in the Magistrates, County, Supreme and Federal Courts, including the Court of Appeal and High Court of Australia.
Prior to joining Hall & Wilcox, Tatjana worked as an acting senior solicitor in the litigation and dispute resolution branch at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office (VGSO).
Tatjana also worked as an Associate to a Judge at the County Court of Victoria, gaining experience in both criminal and quasi-criminal matters.
Experience
- Acting for various government departments and entities, including insurers in relation to public liability/personal injury claims involved various alleged causes including slips/trips, student to student injuries, failure to supervise; and failure to maintain.
- Acting for various government departments and entities (including Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), Department of Education) in institutional abuse claims, inclduing appearing in settlement conferences and mediations.
- Acting for public sector including Victoria Police, DJCS and other entities in Coronial inquests including but not limited to Inquest into the death of Chayse Dearing (one of the children in the Cluster Filicide Inquest), Inquest into the death of Bridget Flack.
- Acting for DJCS in major tort claims brought on behalf of prisoners including Antonios Mokbel, Hugo Alistair Rich and Dr Craig Minogue;
- Advising and acting for Victoria Police in both litigated and non-litigated police tort claims, including in the IMARC Protest Group Proceeding (Class Action) and Jason Roberts v State of Victoria.
- Advising Corrections Victoria in high-risk terrorism offence matters pursuant to the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) and the Secretary of DJCS in post-sentence supervision order matters pursuant to the Serious Offenders Act 2018 (Vic), for example, advising on information sharing and claims of public interest immunity in Abdul Nacer Benbrika v Commonwealth Attorney General, Attorney-General v Hadashah Sa'adat Khan [2024] VSC 58.
- Advising various public sector entities on vexatious litigants, including litigation restraint orders pursuant to the Vexatious Proceedings Act 2014.
- Advising and acting for Victoria Police and the DJCS in judicial review matters including Hugo Alistair Rich, Fiona Austin, Dr Craig Minogue and Julian Knight.
