
Natalie brings a unique blend of healthcare and legal expertise to her practice, with a strong passion for both health and the law. After a 14-year career as an intensive care nurse, she transitioned into law, where she now specialises in medical defence, generally liability, allied health, aged care and disciplinary matters - seamlessly integrating her clinical background with legal insight.
Natalie continues to maintain her nursing registration to ensure that her finger is on the pulse when it comes to healthcare related topics and matters, this assists to provide her clients with 'real world experience' in the health sector.
Natalie has extensive experience in personal injury, professional indemnity, and indemnity disputes, having acted for major insurers and underwriters. She regularly advises on regulatory and disciplinary matters involving APRA and the Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO), as well as coronial inquests.
Experience
- Represented the defendant insurer in the high-profile Supreme Court case Ryan & Anor v Dearden & Anor [2023] QCA 20, which was successfully won on appeal.
- Defendng insurers in personal injury, medical malpractice, allied health and disciplinary matters.
- Advising in the areas of public liability, professional indemnity and coverage disputes.
- Assisted in coronial investigations and OHO responses and AHPRA submissions.
- Running trials, settlement conferences and mediations. Excellent knowledge of court processes including relevant legislation.
