Dan is an experienced public interest litigator, with a particular focus on complex underpayment of wages claims, contractual disputes, equity, consumer law, responsible lending and debt recovery matters.
Solely accepting matters on a pro bono basis, Dan’s clients include vulnerable workers, refugees, victims of elder abuse, and other clients where there is a compelling public interest or access to justice element.
Dan holds a number of leadership roles at the firm including on our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Committee, Pro Bono & Community Committee and the Hall & Wilcox Community Fund Committee.
Outside of his legal practice, Dan is an experienced not-for-profit director, and currently sits on the board of the Five Percent Foundation.
Experience
- Experience in acting for clients in proceedings in the High Court of Australia, the Federal Circuit and Family Court and the Federal Court of Australia, the Fair Work Commission and the various state courts and tribunals of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
- Successfully recovering >$1 million in unpaid wages on behalf of 30+ vulnerable workers in proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
- Acting for employees in respect of race, disability, gender and religious discrimination claims in the Fair Work Commission and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
- Successfully acting for the victim of a sophisticated investment scam to recover his life savings lost to the scam in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
