Bradley is a senior associate in Hall & Wilcox’s Tax team, with a specialisation in state tax based matters, advising clients nation-wide.
Bradley assists clients with their tax structuring, tax controversy, and tax planning needs, and has both federal and state tax expertise. Bradley has particular experience engaging with different state and territory revenue authorities on behalf of clients and objecting to, or applying for, exemptions with respect to land tax, duty and payroll tax issues.
Bradley's clients are predominantly small-to-medium businesses and high net-worth family groups, with a focus on the property development, agriculture, not-for-profit and health sectors.
Experience
- Advised Scentre Group and Barrenjoey Private Capital on the successful launch of a new private fund, the West Lakes Opportunity Trust, and the acquisition of a 50 per cent interest in Westfield West Lakes shopping centre in Adelaide for $174.8 million.
- Advising clients with respect to the income tax, GST and state tax consequences of inbound investment into Australian real property. This includes with respect to the initial structuring of the investment and ongoing tax consequences from an operational perspective.
- Restructuring the ownership of assets jointly held through unit trusts, superannuation funds and discretionary trusts to facilitate the transition of a business from the original business partners to their children. This includes preparing advice as to the optimal means of undertaking the restructure from an income tax and state perspective, as well as preparing the relevant doucmentation necessary to record and implement the arrangement.
- Assisting large corporate groups and funds restructure their organisations by introducing a new holding entity and ensuring the transfer of the relevant business assets and shares, were eligible for CGT and duty exemptions.
- Advising a large agricultural company on the complex state tax based issued that arise due to the extensive landholding, including the landholder duty consequences of share issues, buybacks and transfers, and how to best structure the transactions from a duty perspective.
- Advising listed developers on the tax issues of the acquisition, development and sale of property throughout Australia.
- Advising institutions as to the optimal method of structuring new entities to ensure their eligibility for the relevant charitable tax concessions, and to avoid jeopardising the parent organisation’s existing concessions.
- Engaging with federal and state taxation authorities with respect to voluntary disclosures of non-compliance with various tax and duty regimes.
- Acting for mid-market businesses in relation to business sales, mergers, acquisitions and group restructures, and advising on available income tax, GST and duty rollovers and concessions.
