Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.
Hall & Wilcox, together with ACHSM, the AHHA and the ACIPC, held an insightful discussion on how those who care for the vulnerable (including hospitals, aged care providers, retirement living operators, disability providers, medical practitioners, schools) and all employers can respond to a significant event involving an infection outbreak. This included a hypothetical on how to deal with a coronavirus outbreak at a health facility.
