Hall & Wilcox proud to boast many ‘polished men’

Leading independent business law firm Hall & Wilcox has been named the leading corporate fundraiser for Polished Man, a YGAP campaign developed to support children globally who suffer from violence.

The Polished Man campaign challenges men to paint one nail with nail polish to raise awareness and funds to support the one in five children who suffer physical and sexual violence before the age of 18.

In 2015, the Polished Man campaign raised $374,190.78. Hall & Wilcox led the corporate field, being the highest fundraiser of the 99 corporate teams that supported the campaign.

The firm’s involvement was led by lawyers David Burnton, Piers Mitchem, Darcy Daly and Julian Vido.

David Burnton, who led the internal campaign at Hall & Wilcox, emphasised the impact of the campaign. ‘Although funds raised from Polished Man goes towards victim support and preventative measures, it is also about being the finger nail being noticed, and prompting a conversation about child abuse. The number of polished nails across the firm, including within the partnership, was brilliant.’

‘Conversations took place at client meetings, networking events, and one lawyer even auctioned off his nail to raise funds. There was a real focus on the issue around the firm, and we’re now planning a bigger campaign in 2016.’

Piers Mitchem, who oversees Hall & Wilcox’s provision of pro bono legal services to YGAP, said it was terrific to see the firm expand its relationship from a predominately legal and advisory one, to one in which Hall & Wilcox actively supports YGAP’s fund raising initiatives.

‘YGAP is doing great things in the charity space, and we see it having a significant impact in the future. It’s a privilege to be involved with the organisation not only from a pro bono but now also a fund raising perspective.’

This year the Polished Man campaign will start on 1 October 2016 and run for the month of October.
