Hall & Wilcox deepens finance capability with appointment of new partner in Sydney
Hall & Wilcox has appointed new finance partner David Cooper in Sydney.
David is an experienced finance lawyer. His expertise includes project finance, acquisition finance, corporate finance and real estate finance. He acts for a mix of domestic and offshore clients.
David advises project sponsors and lenders, private equity houses and real estate developers on project finance, leveraged and acquisition finance, corporate working capital, property and asset financing transactions, as well as complex, multi-jurisdictional and cross-border financing transactions. He has also worked with clients on priority, restructuring, pre-insolvency and debt-recovery transactions and on Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) compliance programs.
David has also previously served as deputy general counsel for Oceania for a major Japanese bank, whilst on secondment.
Managing Partner Tony Macvean said David will lead the firm’s Sydney finance practice, and play a leading role in the national banking and finance practice. David will also be a key member of the firm’s broader projects, renewables and energy practices.
‘Hiring David is a real coup and we are thrilled that he is joining us,’ Mr Macvean said. ‘David adds strength and capability to our NSW finance, broader commercial practice, and our national banking and finance and projects practices.
‘He is a good person who is aligned to our cultural values. He is attracted to the opportunity with us to grow and compete with the major finance and projects firms. He also appreciates how we collaborate and put clients and people first.’
David said, ‘I am excited about joining a firm that values client service excellence and innovation equally alongside its care for its people and culture. I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic team of lawyers across the firm and helping to lead the continued growth of the firm in finance and projects.’
David joins from Baker & McKenzie, where he was a partner.
