We support our community in various ways, including through our Community Fund and volunteering opportunities.
The Hall & Wilcox Community Fund
The Hall & Wilcox Community Fund was launched in September 2023 to deliver philanthropic support to our community. The Fund’s goal is to improve human rights outcomes in the areas of housing, employment and education.
The Hall & Wilcox Community Fund’s overall program complements our existing pro bono practice and community work. It will achieve its goal by:
- matching workplace giving donations
- allocating a donation budget to our community committees to support local campaigns
- providing substantial grants to three main charity partners each financial year.
How we help
In FY2024 we provided a $20,000 grant to each of Aurora Education Foundation, Fitted for Work and StreetSmart Australia. Our grants helped:
- Aurora Education Foundation: to support Aurora’s international study tour, which allows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to visit some of the world’s best universities. The grant doubled the number of international study tours offered.
- Fitted For Work: to help 1205 clients access 1800+ services that help women in Australia to become work ready, including reviewing CVs, preparing for interviews, providing work capsule wardrobes and running programs such as mentoring and LinkedIn training.
- StreetSmart Australia: to support the ‘Making-a-Home initiative, which helps people by giving them essentials such as furniture, white goods or kitchenware. The grant offered support across five capital cities, helping end/prevent homelessness for 31 households.
We encourage all our people and extended networks to contribute, and we thank you in advance for your contribution to the greater community.
The Hall & Wilcox Community Fund is a fund of Australian Communities Foundation, which is a public charitable foundation. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Volunteering
We support our people in giving back to our local communities through volunteering, which is part of our Pro Bono & Community practice.
Opportunities to volunteer are available within longstanding programs, such as mentoring high school students from low socio-economic backgrounds, and new initiatives such as Graduate Volunteer Community Days.
The Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) connects students from low socio-economic backgrounds with business mentors. Through a range of programs, mentors help students to develop their confidence, skills and career aspirations so that they can thrive in their future workplaces.
Hall & Wilcox participates in 14 ABCN programs each year across four of our offices. Our Sydney office has volunteered in the recently established First Nations Goals program for the past two years. The innovative Careers Program was co-designed with Aboriginal educators from the NSW Department of Education. The aim is to inspire, guide and support First Nations students in Year 9 to identify strengths, set goals, overcome challenges, develop leadership skills and dream big!
Each year, graduate lawyers in each of our offices have the opportunity to participate in our Graduate Volunteer Day, where they spend a day volunteering in their local communities.
Since launching the Hall & Wilcox Community Fund, we have established Community Committees in each of our offices who provide local volunteering opportunities for our people.
Many of our people give their time to better enable our communities to thrive and find it to be extremely rewarding.

Getting involved
Volunteering allows us to leverage our skills and time for good causes, strengthen important community relationships, gain valuable experience outside of daily work and give back to the community, which is a part of our purpose at Hall & Wilcox.
More importantly, we make a difference in people’s lives.
