Angela has over 15 years post admission experience practicing in insurance litigation and personal injury law, with a focus on compulsory third party insurance claims (with the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, being the compulsory third party insurer for motor vehicle accidents in Western Australia) and workers compensation claims.
Angela has experience advising on claims for both plaintiff and defendant insurer and employer clients. Her experience includes managing a diverse range of claims including, compulsory third party insurance, workers’ compensation, common law negligence claims, product liability, public liability and medical negligence.
Angela now specialises in compulsory third party insurance claims and workers' compensation claims.
Angela has significant experience in providing advice to the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (the compulsory third party insurer for motor vehicle accidents in Western Australia). Angela regularly provides advice on liability and quantum.
Angela has extensive experience in providing advice in workers’ compensation claims and has represented employer and insurer clients at WorkCover WA and the District Court.
Angela prides herself in taking a well-balanced approach to settlement negotiations. She is experienced in dispute resolution and strategising the best way to bring a matter to an early resolution. Angela is a proactive and determined litigator who leaves no stone unturned in gathering evidence.
Angela's experience in compulsory third party insurance claims is diverse and extends to providing advice on matters where liability is denied, apportionment of liability is in dispute, there are intoxication issues, infant claims, pure mental harm claims, fraudulent and harvested claims and claims involving questions of policy of insurance coverage.
Angela has experience in providing strategic advice on all matters of workers' compensation, including complex common law claims, complex psychiatric and multiple injury claims, and has an understanding of the needs of employer and insurer clients.
Angela has significant experience in appearing in the District Court of Western Australia and attending chamber summons hearings, directions hearings, compromise hearings and special appointments. She regularly attends pre-trial conferences, informal settlement conferences and WorkCover hearings.
Angela recently assisted with a District Court trial, that had a successful outcome to the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, and is now assisting with an appeal to the Supreme Court of WA Court of Appeal.
