Tia's practice focuses primarily on complex property damage and technical construction recovery claims. Her experience includes the successful management of complex and high-value subrogated recoveries and the recovery of substantial sums on behalf of Australia’s largest insurers. Tia handles a wide variety of indemnity disputes ranging from fraudulent claims, litigated coverage disputes to complaints to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and across all Victorian jurisdictions. Tia prides herself on her intricate knowledge of the insurance industry and its guiding legislation, the Insurance Contracts Act 1984.
Experience
- Experience in civil litigation and dispute resolution in all Victorian jurisdictions (both defendant and plaintiff), including major building and technical construction recovery litigation.
- Providing comprehensive advice on a range of liability, indemnity and quantum issues to some of Australia’s largest insurers, including ad hoc advice to insurer clients.
- Appearing and negotiating claims at mediations, settlement conferences and interlocutory hearings in a range of property damage disputes.
- Conducting litigation in all Victorian jurisdictions, including defective product claims, claims for damage caused by defective building works, fire, water ingress, moisture and drainage issues.
- Acting for insurers against litigants in court proceedings.
