
Stephanie has worked exclusively in the areas of government and administrative law and undertaking volume litigation for various government clients including Department of Home Affairs, the National Disability Insurance Agency and Services Australia. Stephanie regularly provides advice on statutory interpretation and complex issues arising in the course of litigation involving decisions made under a range of statutory schemes. Stephanie provides succinct, practical, timely advice and facilitates the effective delivery of high quality and cost-effective legal services.
Stephanie is an experienced solicitor advocate and regularly appears and instructs Counsel in the Administrative Review Tribunal, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and Federal Court of Australia.
Experience
- Stephanie has had carriage of hundreds of merits and judicial review applications, representing the Department of Home Affairs across various practice areas, including mandatory cancellations on character grounds and citizenship and visa refusals. Stephanie has coordinated cohort matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
- Stephanie has represented the National Disability Insurance Agency in merits review proceedings before the Administrative Review Tribunal (and former Administrative Appeals Tribunal), including recusal applications, extensions of time and substantive applications.
- Stephanie has acted for the Child Support Registrar in enforcement proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia to recover unpaid child support debts and in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for decisions made under the Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989.
- Stephanie has undertaken secondments with the National Disability Insurance Agency and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, conducting litigation and advising on legislative reform.
