
Mark is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer who acts for a wide range of clients on complex transactions and commercial arrangements, including listed and private companies, government departments and entities, family businesses, international and national sporting bodies, and high -profile individuals. He is known for his prompt and commercially focu sed advice and ability to manage high-value, high-profile and business critical matters.
Mark has a particular focus on the sports, entertainment, and media industries and is part of Hall & Wilcox’s pre-eminent Sports and Entertainment team.
Mark’s practice includes:
- Media Rights & Broadcasting – Structuring and negotiating media rights arrangements across television, streaming, and digital platforms.
- Procurement and General Commercial Contracting – Drafting and negotiating a wide range of procurement, manufacturing, distribution and other commercial contracts across various sectors.
- Australian Consumer Law – Advising on all aspects of the Australian Consumer Law, particularly the consumer guarantees, unfair contract terms and misleading and deceptive conduct.
- Sports Commercialisation – Advising on licensing, venue hire, major events, sponsorship, procurement, and other event-related commercial arrangements.
- Probity – Acting as a probity advisor and advising government departments and agencies on probity requirements, probity plans, and compliance frameworks for tender processes and major procurement activities.
- Mergers & Acquisitions – Advising on business and share acquisitions, including the drafting and negotiation of transaction documents.
- Corporate Governance & Structuring – Advising boards and companies on directors’ duties, related party transactions, and corporate structuring.
- Intellectual Property & Technology – Drafting licensing and technology agreements, including for commercialisation and innovation projects.

Experience
- Advising numerous sporting bodies on complex, high-value media rights transactions across free-to-air television, subscription television and digital platforms.
- Advising a State tourism and major events entity in relation to funding, sponsorship and other agreements to facilitate and support major events in that State.
- Advising a number of State government department and entities in relation to procurement and supply arrangements.
- Advising the owner of a major electricity transmission network on arrangements to implement third party operation and maintenance of the network and the subsequent transfer of those arrangements.
- Acting as the probity advisor for a Commonwealth government entity in relation to a large procurement and funding project.
- Leading a corporate restructuring project for a prominent national sporting organisation.
- Assisting a brewery on all aspects of its operations, including structuring, capital raising, and drafting brewing and supply contracts.
- Advising an ASX listed baby formula and food manufacturer in relation to its domestic and international distribution and supply agreements.
- Advising a large automobile manufacturer in respect of their procurement and supply chain agreements.
- Drafting and negotiating the naming rights agreement for a large stadium owned and operated by the client.
- Advising a prominent Australian stadium on its venue hire agreements, including for major international sporting competitions.
- Advising a prominent live music venue in relation to its venue hiring agreements, sponsorship agreement and supply agreements.
- Drafting rules and regulations for one of Australia’s most prominent sporting codes.
- Assisting sporting teams and individual athletes with the commercialisation of image rights, including in respect of the use in advertisements and other promotional material and compliance with Australia’s taxation laws.
- Drafting IT master services and development agreements for clients involved in various industries, including the superannuation, tertiary education and online auction industries.
