
Marianna is an experienced general insurance litigator with expertise in defending personal injury claims and litigation for insureds from across industries. This includes residential homeowners, building/construction companies, small businesses, cleaning/security/marketing sub-contractors, hospitals, owners of commercial premises, and local councils. Marianna also has significant experience in occupiers’ liability, workers’ compensation claims and associated statutory recovery actions.
Marianna holds a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from Monash University and was admitted to practice in 2019. She has appeared in Victoria in the Supreme Court, County Court, VCAT and the Magistrates’ Court.
- Advising and defending claims for Australia’s leading major insurers, Lloyd’s of London syndicates, and Government clients.
- Acting for landlords, tenants and managing agents in relation to claims arising from injuries sustained at commercial, retail and residential premises.
- Acting for various government departments (eg Housing, and Education) in relation to public liability/personal injury claims involving various alleged causes including slips/trips and abuse;
- Defending owners, cleaning companies and other contractors against public liability claims for injuries sustained at retail shops and shopping centres.
- Defending security companies and licensed occupiers against allegations of assault causing personal injuries.
- Defending sporting venues and clubs against public liability claims brought by spectators and other entrants.
- Defending claims by workers and pedestrians against developers, owners, builders and contractors resulting from injuries arising from construction sites.
- Defending hospitals against claims for psychiatric injury.
