Maree is a specialist insurance lawyer with nearly 20 years’ experience in personal injury and property damage claims. She regularly handles complex, high quantum and sensitive claims including catastrophic personal injury claims and historical abuse claims. She acts for domestic insurers, the WA and NT governments, a number of Lloyd’s and London-based insurers and self-insured public companies.

Experience
- Acting for hoteliers, licensed venues and occupiers in relation to the defence of personal injury claims arising out of slips/trips and assaults by patrons and security personnel.
- Managing claims for cleaning contractors, centre managers and owners of large retail and commercial premises.
- Acting for construction principals and contractors in defence of claims arising from industrial accidents, including personal injury, dependency and nervous shock claims.
- Managing and defending personal injury claims on behalf of labour hire entities, contractors and principals in the mining industry.
- Acting in claims arising out of sex and physical abuse and bullying, including historical sexual abuse claims in both Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
- Advising on and defending recovery actions instituted under s93 of the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 (WA) and s176 of the Return to Work Act 1986 (NT).
- Acting in all manner of claims arising from property damage, including fire and water damage claims, faulty workmanship, and defective products.
