Hall & Wilcox partner Mark Dunphy has been appointed chair of global legal organisation SCG Legal.

Hall & Wilcox partner Mark Dunphy has been appointed chair of global legal organisation SCG Legal, a worldwide network of 122 leading independent law firms from more than 60 countries.

Firms in SCG’s network are unified by a culture of premier legal practices and industry leadership, an elevated dedication to client service and responsiveness, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and a devotion to transparent, innovative, and fair billing practices.

Mark has represented Hall & Wilcox within SCG Legal for more than 15 years and been on its Board for seven years. He will serve a 12-month term as Chair.

Mark said it was an honour to be elected as Chair of SCG Legal from among the more than 12,000 lawyers in the SCG global community.

‘It is an additional honour to be the first Chair from the Asia/Pacific region. I look forward to promoting the interests of firms in the region during my tenure,’ he said.

‘During my time with SCG, I have had the opportunity to introduce Hall & Wilcox clients to many firms with the SCG Legal community and we have benefitted from some significant referrals as well. Our clients have always been very well looked after.’

Mark is a leading employment and workplace relations lawyer. His practice at Hall & Wilcox encompasses both litigious and non-litigious applications of employment and industrial relations law. He regularly advises global and non-Australian entities on their employee relations strategies in Australia.

Mark has also served as Chair of Partners at Hall & Wilcox since 2015. During his tenure, he has overseen a period of significant growth, with the firm growing from 51 partners to 118. He will step down from this role when his term ends on 31 December 2022.
