Leading independent Australian business law firm Hall & Wilcox sponsored and hosted a recent launch event for European Business, an international business networking organisation which seeks to promote trade and investment between Europe and Australia.

European Business is part of the international ABIE Network, with around 1,500 members drawn from Australian companies with business interests and connections in Europe, and a wide range of European companies with reciprocal interests in Australia.

It provides a forum for companies and individuals to forge business opportunities, contacts and exchange information, according to Oliver Jankowsky, Hall & Wilcox Special Counsel and President of European Business. “The association is unique in its ability to offer business connections with the whole of Europe.

“It is strongly represented in larger European countries such as Germany, France and Britain but one of its strengths is the ability to connect with smaller European nations as well.”

European Business has a broad membership base, bringing together Australian and European business people from a variety of industries including banking, insurance, finance, manufacturing, legal, technology and service industries.

Hall & Wilcox Managing Partner, Tony Macvean, said the firm was proud to support European Business. “A strength of the European Business organisation is its business focus.

“Hall & Wilcox, via Oliver and his colleagues, has established a strong track record of advising European companies looking to do business in Australia and vice versa, including M&As and establishing subsidiaries.

“There is much to be shared between Australia and Europe when it comes to business knowledge and innovation”, Tony said.

The launch event was well attended by representatives from several European chambers of commerce and from various companies including Accenture, Ernst & Young, Seek Limited, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Sabco Australia.

Distinguished guests included Dr Mark Higgie, Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister and Australian Ambassador-designate to the EU, Belgium, Luxemburg and NATO.

Hall & Wilcox acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, sea and waters on which we work, live and engage. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
