News4 July 2024

Hall & Wilcox has advised CHG-Meridian, a German-owned, leading global technology2use company, on its acquisition of Maia Financial’s commercial leasing portfolio.

The portfolio comprises assets in IT, industrial equipment and healthcare technology. The acquisition will support CHG-Meridian’s market presence and growth in Australia and New Zealand.

CHG-Meridian has more than 1400 employees in 30 countries across five continents. It develops, finances and manages tailored technology usage models for the IT, industrial and healthcare sectors. It has been active in the Australian market since 2018.

Maia Financial is a Sydney-based asset finance business founded in 1989. Its portfolio consisted of around 500 customers, about half of whom belong to the healthcare sector.

Led by Partner Chris Brown, the cross-practice team delivered comprehensive legal support and advice on structuring and tax throughout the transaction.

The team included Partners Mark Inston and Jim Koutsokostas, Senior Associates Angelica Huang and Rebecca Radbone and Lawyer Katelyn Free.

Chris Brown said ‘We assisted CHG-Meridian with their 2018 Australian market entry, so we were delighted to have been able to assist them again with this latest transaction, which will turbo charge their growth in the region. We were able to mobilise a small team, but one with the right expertise and experience to allow us to deliver for the client.’

Lukas Tränkle, Executive Vice President (ANZ and Singapore), said ‘CHG-Meridian appreciates the assistance provided by the Hall & Wilcox team. They have truly become our trusted partner in the region, giving us confidence to make the right decisions in complex transactions. Our partnership with Hall & Wilcox has been very successful for us.’
