Elisa Paxton
Elisa celebrated her 15-year anniversary at Hall & Wilcox in August 2021.
Elisa joined our Statutory Insurance Victoria team (then known as the WorkCover team) as a lawyer. She was promoted to senior associate in 2009, and partner in 2020. Elisa is an expert in common law and statutory benefits claims with a focus on common law multi-defendant and liability matters. She primarily acts for WorkSafe Victoria.
Elisa actively leads the development of Smarter Law innovations for the SIV team and the broader firm. Her contribution has assisted the firm in winning a number of innovation awards. Elisa also leads SIV’s pro bono initiatives and has been actively involved with the Law and Advocacy Centre for Women.
We asked Elisa a few questions to reflect on her 15 years at the firm.
One of my earliest Hall & Wilcox memories is...
Being introduced to every person on my first day. Fifteen years ago such was the size of the firm that this was possible! I remember very clearly being taken to every office and every cubicle and meeting each person individually.
A recent great achievement was when...
I was promoted to partner in 2020. I feel immensely honoured and grateful to be part of the Hall & Wilcox partnership group. A highlight for me since becoming a partner has been my involvement in teaching, encouraging and helping the people I supervise thrive in their roles. I love being a part of and seeing the development of others. I was so fortunate over my 15 years at the firm to be on the receiving end of such great supervision and mentoring that I am committed to paying that forward to a whole new group of people coming through the firm.
When people ask me about working at Hall & Wilcox I tell them...
It is simply a fantastic place to work. It is the people that really make Hall & Wilcox and are the cornerstone of the wonderful culture of the firm that we are very lucky to experience. I love the collegiality and camaraderie among Hall & Wilcox people of all different roles and teams. I think we really do live the hallmark of #bettertogether and every person at the firm is appreciated and valued. I also tell people that Hall & Wilcox is a firm where you will be given so many opportunities to grow professionally (and personally) and just as importantly, you can make opportunities for yourself. Hall & Wilcox is a firm where you can absolutely build and enjoy a successful and longstanding career.
Outside of Hall & Wilcox, you’ll find me...
Homeschooling my primary school aged children (at least currently, being Melbourne based!) but otherwise I love cooking and entertaining, art and craft, yoga, swimming and going to the footy with family and friends.
