Cameron is a commercial litigator with a particular focus on general commercial litigation, banking and finance litigation involving mortgages, guarantees and loan agreements, debt recovery and enforcement, tax disputes, trust disputes and regulatory matters.
Cameron has extensive experience in advising banks and other lenders on all aspects of security enforcement.
He has a reputation for achieving quality outcomes for his clients with an organised and measured approach to the dispute resolution process.
Cameron has represented clients in the Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts of Victoria, the Federal Court and other State Courts. Cameron has also successfully resolved disputes through alternative dispute resolution processes (eg negotiation and mediation).
Experience
- Advising banks and other lenders on security enforcement including issuing demands, obtaining vacant possession, commencing proceedings, appointing receivers and managers and selling secured property.
- Acting for banks and other lenders in response to complaints lodged with AFCA.
- Advising clients in respect of regulatory investigations conducted by ASIC, the ACCC and the ATO.
- Acting in respect of an ATO investigation and proceedings brought by the ATO in the Federal Court in which the ATO sought urgent injunctory relief (freezing orders, garnishee orders and a departure prohibition order). The dispute involves multi-million-dollar amended assessments.
- Acting on behalf of a security trustee in relation to the highly publicised collapsed of a high profile investment scheme.
- Acting on behalf of a real estate client in respect of proceedings involving a complex contractual dispute.
