Canberra the latest target for Hall & Wilcox expansion
Leading independent business law firm Hall & Wilcox has announced it is opening a new Canberra office, fresh after broadening its footprint to Newcastle and Perth and relocating its burgeoning Sydney office, during 2015.
The firm’s Canberra presence will initially be led by partner Matthew Needham and includes three legal and two support staff.
Hall & Wilcox’s Canberra office will initially focus on insurance, but is expected to expand into other areas of practice such as finance, taxation, government, employment and property.
Tony Macvean, Managing Partner at Hall & Wilcox, said the firm was pleased to attract someone with Mr Needham’s experience and expertise to kick-start its’ Canberra operations. “Matthew heads a strong team in statutory and general insurance for the ACT, and his practice greatly complements our existing statutory and general insurance practices.”
“The Canberra office is an important step toward a national presence. Aside from developing a strong insurance team we also see many opportunities in Canberra for other areas of practice, particularly in government, finance and taxation.”
Hall & Wilcox’s expansion in 2015 into Newcastle, Perth and now Canberra has seen Hall & Wilcox total partner numbers grow from 42 in early 2015 to 64 after Mr Needham commences at the firm.
