U.S. transfer tax and expatriation: how Australians may be subject to U.S. tax

The Hall & Wilcox’s Private clients team invites you to an information session with U.S. attorneys John Campbell and Ann Seller. The session will be held in both Sydney and Melbourne.

The session is particularly relevant to individuals and advisers to individuals who own U.S. investments, Australians who are U.S. green card holders or U.S. citizens, and those with family members residing in the U.S.

The discussion will focus on:

  • why non-U.S. citizens of green card holders need to understand their exposure to U.S. gift or estate tax
  • the importance for Australians to properly renounce their U.S. green card so they are not exposed to U.S. transfer tax on their worldwide assets and
  • why Australian estate plans should be created for Australian citizens with family members of U.S. residency or citizenship.

The session will be facilitated by Hall & Wilcox Private clients lawyers Eileen Meehan, Special Counsel and James Whiley, Special Counsel in Sydney and Emma Woolley, Partner in Melbourne.

We hope you can join us.
